Forgive yourself

It's been a rough year, period. For everyone. While this Holiday season will be different from what many of us have known all our lives we will get through them, and maybe even discover new traditions along the way.


As a personal trainer and health coach this is the time of year I will hear, "Oh, I ate horribly," or "I fell off my diet completely". Well, I want to say that you should forgive yourself and not beat yourself up over it. We all do it, everyone of us. Some stick to their diets easier than others, and some of us well, that pecan pie or peanut butter pie calls to us and we must answer it. Again, forgive yourself.


I will tell you to still track what you eat, whether through an app or on a sheet of paper. Then, look at the list and in a journal write what you were feeling at the time. Were you happy, sad, bored or lonely? Whatever the reason, assess it, acknowledge it, forgive yourself and move on.


Happy Holidays to everyone and remember to enjoy the simple things this year.
